The Lake Sanabria Natural Park was created in 1978 with the main objective of preserving the morphology that quaternary glaciers sculpted on its rocks, the purity of the waters, the richness of its flora and the diversity of its fauna, very rich in amphibian species: frogs, toads, salamanders and newts.
